I got hit 7 months ago in a parking lot where the car was unattended and the damage was pretty good. I called my insurance for hit and run and I don't think it's on my record?

I just took defensive driving and ordered my driving record, it only had one accident that was my fault? Did not see the one I got hit 7 months ago?

Some people suck.

I think the advice given so far makes perfect sense. She has a witness in the security guard and a plate number. File the police report, contact an attorney and take her ass to court.

After she wins, she should go to AVIS and rent the cheapest POS they have. Then pick up all the insurance/liability coverage they offer. Drive said POS to the lady's place and plow into her car at night when no one is around. Take it back to AVIS and claim it got ruined while she was shopping at the mall or something. AVIS get railed in this approach, but they suck for the most part anyway. And if your friend gets a PT Cruiser, she'd be doing AVIS customers a service by reducing their odds of getting that car.

Last and final step: Be happy and feel vindicated.

This is ridonkulous!!

If she is a lawyer and a total a**, that does not mean she can keep doing this forever?

How about you publish her information on here and every single one of us calls her office and asks her to pay for it.

If not then we can talk to someone in the company that she is using name of the firm to commit crimes?

There must be something we can do? I know in the first place that girl was stupid to let her go...but if that lawyer is not given shit for this, she will keep doing this and who knows, one day she might kill someone and getaway with it?
yea...those are pretty much my feelings...

im sure if i was 17 again, i would wish a quart of oil or a bottle of nuoc mum (a really pungent fish sauce) in her nice interior...but luckily i'm above her level...

so far....

but yea..i thought of the news thing too; ill look into that definitely. i'm sure a law firm wouldn't want bad publicity over something so tiny.

It would not be on your record because it was hit while parked.

Report it to your friend's insurance and let them handle the collection end of things. That's what you pay insurance premiums for. And refer your friend's insurance company to the security guy as a witness.

Do you know this for a fact, or is this hearsay? I've never heard of any insurance company doing this.
Not true...

I have discussed at length "situations" with State Farm and until I pull the trigger on filing a claim, it's never been considered one towards my policy/rate calculations.

[QUOTE=trentor,Apr 8 2009, 05:54 AM] Since her deductible is within $100 of the damage, do not report it to insurance.

You're right about subrogation.

If a claim goes that route:

1. It does not count against you
2. If your insurance company they does not collect, you are out the amount of the deductible only

I think his point was it was not worth it to file a claim if the difference between filing a claim and repairing it out of pocketwas only $100.

that was his first point, and then his latter point was that any accidents, even ones that aren't your fault, count against you.

My experience:

I filed a claim in a hit and run and:

1. I had a police report
2. I had a license plate/make/model of vehicle

Police/insurance never found the guy, the claim went to subrogation, I did not recover my deductible, and the accident did not count against me.

Sorry for any confusion.
