CANCELLED: Ireland 2010 - The Drive
 

Hi all,

I have been in discussion with Tom (leftfootbraking) about organising a 4/5 day jount around ireland for some of our UK and European friends in 2010. We plan to hold this over a UK bank holiday weekend, but not coinciding with an Irish one. May seems the most likely target.

Tom has indicated that there could be good interest in this and that we should get planning now.

Right now we are just looking for people who might be interested in doing this and get their feedback on expecations and wants from a trip like this.

Tom and I have been scouting roads in the east coast recently and are planning to do the same in thee south in the near future to find the smoothest, emptiest and most scenic pieces of tarmac to drive.

It would be great if we could leave in the main forum for a little while and if we drum up enough interest then we can formalise it in the meets section.

Right now Tom has come up with a basic route which I have shown here which we will refine based on peoples feedback.

So if this is something you may be interested in just stick your name down below. Also if you want to come over I'm sure it will be possible to arrange passenger rides if its too far to drive. Tom also has some exciting secret plans which I cannot divulge just yet

Hi David :thumbup: I was discussing this sort of meet with Tom on the GWDA meet last Aug/Sep, really glad to see the planning has started :thumbup:

do you know roughly when in the year your hoping to go for? i assume it will be when the weather is hot and sunny?....ok maybe not, but we can hope:D

But I for one will definately be up for a jolly around the Emerald Isle (never been, but its on my 'the must do' list :thumbup: )

I just hope it doesnt conflict with the IoM Mega Meet?

Anyway, please put me down as a maybe 'dependent on the timings' list

I could be interested but will depend on a few things such as when, what time I can get off and if there is another Euro trip. not sure if wifey would be too impressed if I spend all my hols on S2K meets.

However, we both wanted to do a trip to Ireland to do some diving off the southwest coast so there is a possibility we could do a few days of the run and then head for the coast.

Anyways, definiately interested in finding out more so chalk me down as a maybe.

In order to make the most of things for our UK based friends and give ourselves some reduced traffic, we are going to us a UK bank holiday that is not an Irish bank holiday.

From just having a quick look and it seems that the first one is from May 28th-31th and the second is 27th-30th of August.

So I think with the agreement of all who are interested the May 28th-30th weekend will be our target.

If anyone has any suggestions or anything they would particularly like to see or do please let either Dave or myself know :thumbup:

We our waiting to get an idea of numbers before approaching hotels, in order to get the best rates. I also have a contact that should be able to get us a discount on ferry prices, I'll contact him as soon as I know rough numbers :)

Ah sure stick me down too.....Wouldnt mind seeing some of my own country.... :D

Lads i would love to tag along on that... Havn't been to any meets or anything like that but seen the vids and they look like good crack.

Photos of the Wicklow mountains look great, beatiful spot.

Guys count me in im always looking for a reason to go for a nice spin.
