North East->west day - Sun 2nd July
**** UPDATE****
This will be an all day event and weather dependent. I will be doing the drive even if solo, as long as it's not raining (heavily).
Driving time is just under 5 Hours. We'll be having between 2-3 hours stopping time for photos, food, fuel. Total Journey is under 160 Miles, so should be easily doable on a single tank. Consett has BP (as you enter from the main South/East routes), Morrisons and Tesco, which I use Tesco 99ron Momentum, fuel stations (we pass the last two on the way out).
Driving Rules
1. Drive courteously - We don't want S2KUK to get a bad name.
2. Obey Road Rules - I (as the organiser) don't want any comeback (I can't remember where but I've seen an article where a cruise leader received penalty points for a following vehicle misbehaving).
3. If you're not the last car, then wait for the person behind at junctions. This way if vehicles get seperated, no one misses a turn, because someone will always be there waiting for you. Make a note if you're the last vehicle as we don't want you waiting for nobody.
4. Pre-check your vehicle. Some of these roads may lead to spirited driving.
5. MOST IMPORTANTLY - Have fun and enjoy.
!!!! CAUTION !!!!
On the moors, there are lots of sheep. Many of which like to wander in the roads. Be wary of them, and if clear of oncomming traffic use the other side of the road to give a wide berth where necessary.
Schedule - meeting and set off times are fixed. Others may see some slippage. If you want to meet part way along the route, PM me, and we'll exchange phone numbers/names. If you're running late to the meeting point and haven't got my number, get a PM to me as I'll be checking just before leaving.
09:00 Meet at free Car Park - Sherburn Terrace, Consett (DH8 6ND) - Opposite Kwick Fit.
09:20 Set off, through the very small main street for some head turning.
09:30 - 11:00 Stops on Moors (Consett - Stanhope - Middleton-in-teesdale) for photos, and if it's not windy, some drone footage. This will consist of several stops for best views, however we will make as much use of the moors for driving as possible.
11:15 photos at Grassholme reservoir, particularly the bridge over (traffic depending) the reservoir https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.58.../data=!3m1!1e3
12:30 We'll be at Kendal
12:45 - 13:00 Windermere and Troutbeck Bridge to Kirkstone Pass
13:30 Lunch - Kirkstone pass inn - Stopping for photos along the route.
http://www.kirkstonepassinn.com/imag...day%20menu.png
14:30 Head off via Hartsop and Patterdale and alongside Ullswater to Aira Force, maybe stop for some photos.
15:00 Leaving Ullswater, North end, just before Pooly Bridge heading to Penrith.
*Fuel stop if required* in Penrith at Esso Station.
15:15 - 15:30 Leaving Penrith
15:45 Hartside Cafe - Pictures and Cuppa +/- Cake if open.
17:00 - 17:30 Arrive @ Consett, toilet stop, chat etc before heading home.
The final adjustments to the route have been made and are in the following URL.

**** UPDATE END****
Been quiet in the north east for a year now.
Not sure what happened to the new organiser.
So I'll attempt to stir interest again.
Anyone around fancy a day out. It'll involve a cruise, stopping points where I plan on some staged photos, see below, food, and scenery.
Heading out from Durham area over to the lakes.
If this is successful, we can have another later in the year for some dark skies photo's.

+1 for interest here!
Had a good 200 mile run out the other week, from Darlington into Alston and across to Penrith, back via Brough to Mickleton and then over the Stang to Tan Hill, onto Kirby Stephen then back to Reeth via Gunnerside, Low Row and up to Arkengarthdale. Reeth to Richmond then Catterick and back to Darlington via Croft

I know...
Ok Sunday 2nd July.
Route is already planned, and mate with Drone needs to confirm.
Day out is weather dependent (not going if it's raining)
Drone is wind dependent.... Anything over 10mph wind and Drone won't be stable enough.
Photos, drive out, food, chat etc can all be done though.

Here's the route for you to peruse and add to sat nav. I've not driven all the route, but have checked suspect areas on streetview to ensure road suitability.
*EDIT* ARGGHHH the forums are posting a google map without route, rather than the URL

POO POO! If I didn't just sell the s2k 2 weeks ago, and if the baby wasn't due on 1st July I would totally be there! :P
I hope everything works out, all the best Spencer!

Oh no Nico, sold the s.... What are you driving now? I assume something with back seats.
Congratulations to you both on a baby cherry due soon.
You'd still be welcome to come out for the day, on the basis that baby arrives a few days early and cherry would be settled. But I guess that'd be a no
However I'm still available for photos for you and your friends cars, we can arrange some time, I remember one has a seriously modified BMW, or is that replaced?

Traded the s2k in for a 3.0tdi Audi A4 B9. It's a big change but it was necessary.
Gonna be very busy around that time so won't even be able to sneak out for a couple of hours. Can't even make it for my cousins wedding on 2nd July.
Yeh would've been my mates E92 M3, it's just standard though aside from the obnoxiously loud exhaust and a few carbon bits.
I may still get another s2k in future though, never say never! But I'll still be hanging around the forums and waving at other s2k's in my audi. Waving at other A4's just gets me funny looks... And the forums aren't anywhere near as good as s2ki.
