Yorkshire Meet - Sunday 22/11/09
I really fancy attending a meet, but they are all miles away. Winters drawing in and its the last chance to take advantage of warmish tarmac.
Anybody with me?

Not bad ideas there - though there's only Snake's Pass that's long enough to warrant a meet for IMO.
There are plenty of of other good roads heading out to Derbyshire that you could incorporate into this run to flesh it out.
The other thing to consider is choosing your time, it only takes a few ditherers doing 35mph in a NSL or 50 zone to make the roads a waste of time. I personally prefer to do these roads at night - oncoming headlights are seen from a distance even when the car isn't.
If you want I'll help you out, if it's good enough it could be made regular. Keep it limited numbers wise also as few of these roads have more than one lane either way.
You might also consider between Yorkshire and the Lakes, though this is well policed.

I was going to organise another Dales meet, but might not bother if you're doing this one.
I was out driving in the Lakes and the Dales yesterday, and the roads are excellent, with very little traffic in the Dales.
I still have an ITN file for my Dales route, if that would be of use to you for the planning.

Thanks for your input guys.
I must agree Ive been to the derbyshire meets before and they are very good. I want to try and get a central meet going which is easily accessable from the M1.
This is what Im thinking...
Meet up at the Old Post Office Pub just off jcn 38 of the M1, then drive on the back roads to home moss, in Hudderfield, then drive to Glossop, along snakes pass and drop in for a drink at snakes pass inn, then finish off in Hope, where you can join the M1 at Sheffield or come back they way you came.
Let me know what you think, will post a map of the route soon.
Great driving roads, and people can
