Now my car is run in I thought I'd try some unscientific times and was surprised at how quick it was:
first run - 5.74
second run - 5.88 (not such a good start)
This was with a passenger, warmed up car and tyres and stuff in the boot. It's 0-62 because both time the speedo clicked over from 59 to 62. Is this normal? good? I know it's rated at 6.2. I was surprised how quick it was. And no burning clutch smell either
Any thoughts?

don't tell me your mates stopwatch and the speedo
59-62 = normal. Just like you wouldn't have seen all the numbers between 0 & 59

As I mentioned above: "unscientific": mates stopwatch and watching the speedo. It's inaccurate, but was still surprised. Need to get myself down to santa pod or somewhere.

62 on the speedo is likely not 62mph really. GPS (as on camera site warning units) will give you a more accurate reading but will 'lag' real speed a bit (especially under full bore acceleration).
If you can do a "run what ya brung" 1/4 in less than 14s, and/or a terminal speed better than 100 tell us

Your margin of error is quite large there, they could easily be a second out when you take your mates reaction time (start and stop) and the speedo over-reading.
What I'd like to know is what people are getting out of a stock S2000 on 0-60? ie am I way off? I know all the inaccuracies that can creep in so I'd like to compare it, but the search engine doesn't like 0-60

My hack method of doing timings is to video the speedo and later edit in Windows Movie Maker...... cut the start of the video off at the point where the speedo first moves from zero and end when it hits 62mph (100kph)....... the final video clip can be timed using the timer in Movie Maker which gives two decimal place "accuracy"
This is by no means scientific either but probably better than a mate and his spotwatch (tried that plenty of times as well ) as frame by frame editing of the start and stop times allows for speedo lag.
I haven't tried it on the S2000 yet but the last test (SLK55 AMG) gave a consistant 0-62 time of 4.9 seconds (exactly what Merc quote)
