Apart from Coxyboy, does anyone get a 5-5.5k revs high freq buzz, like a heat shield rattle?

It occurs in neutral as well as when driving and is almost certainly shield related. It happens ALWAYS on 5k-5.5k.

Any takers?

I find when I get that kind of buzz I ask my wife to shut up, then the annoying noise goes away.

There are 3 exhaust heat shields from the manifold down to the CAT these are held by bolts and washers, I have known these to come loose and even drop out in one case!

You could be getting some resinance from one of these?

I'll get all three heatshields checked today (hopefully) when I pop into Tachbrook Honda, and i'll post a bit later this afternoon.

Cheers

Nigel,
cheers for that comment. Well it all started post HKS installation. So I`m sure thats where the issues lie. Axle stands aren`t the best thing to check with I really need it over a pit or ramped. Thats what needs to be looked at first.

You should check the heat shields on the manifold - you can see one of them from the engine bay.

When I had the HKS I had a subtle rattle coming from seemed like the dash - but it was the rear view mirror - tightened it and everything is fine. I would put it down to the droning frequency which messes things up a bit. Since putting the Amuse on, everything is fine. I did check the heat shields though - I was able to tighten them a teeny weeny bit.

CC - you better jack the front up and get under there - you don't want to be losing heat shields whilst driving.

I've had no such problems resulting from the HKS but only done 5000 or so miles with it on

Zero - I think it's luck of the draw really.

I better set up a CC heatshield fund
