Default 5W40 oil marked as diesel?

Is oil all the same?

Went to get some 5W40 as a top up (this was what the car had last service) and the castrol bottle for 5W40 said "Turbo diesel" on it?

Is that just cuz most cars using this spec of oil are diesels? or is there something that means I shouldn't use it in a petrol engine?

Sorry for the stupid question just want to make sure!

I was shocked when MB told me to put that in his S2000 as well but later found out it was just the way they market it, is absolutely fine just put it in.

I use Castrol Turbo Diesel oil in my S and not had a problem. In fact my S seems to use less of it than anything else I've used

Turbo diesel, not just good stuff but possibly the best stuff!

When I asked Opie for the best engine, diff & gearbox oil for my S the guy grined and said "Do you want the best or the most expensive?, only oil A is the same product as oil B, just in a different bottle, same maufactuer different brand"
It's like the difference between Kellogs and Tescos cornflakes....there isn't any!
I'm not saying all oils are the same, just that if you ask the people who know; then you will know.

Each car is different, but my car worked best on Silkolene Pro S 5w40 - it guzzled Castrol edge and others. Just keep an eye on it whatever oil you use.

Depends on the oil you use. I've used the Turbo Diesel edge for the last 35k miles (On 110k now) and it's great. Probably use 100ml/2 tanks of fuel.

Tried 0w-30 silkolene once and it got through it so fast I thought I'd left the sump plug out...
