5W40 oil marked as diesel?

It also depends on your MY, and how the car is driven!

My MY02 at 73,000 miles gives just over 2,000 mile per litre.

We received a process change request a good few years ago when we were making Diesel and Petrol engines. Texaco wanted to commonise the oil they supplied to a single type.

The oil supplied for the diesel fitted to within a narrower tolerance band of it's contents compared to the petrol type. Since the diesel useage oil was within the petrol tolerance bands it could be used for petrol. Since the petrol useage oil is outside the tolerance bands for diesel you couldn't use it that way around.

I'm not an expert on every oil out there but suspect they're much of a much in that regard
