Default 60k service and MOT due - how much?

My 2001 X reg S is due its next service.

The 54,000 mile service was done in Aug 07(edit: I mean 06) (done when 52k on clock) and I have just got to 59,000 miles.

This is my first service since buying the car in Dec 06 so I want to make sure I know what is needed....

What do I need to get done as standard and is there anything extra to ask to have checked/done?

Also, need the MOT done too (although need to get rear tyres changed first). How much should it cost approx. for both the MOT and service from a Honda Garage? I live in London (Clapham) - Can anyone reccommend me a good Honda garage to use?

I have read that it is cheaper if I provide my own oil - what oil should I buy and where from? Also, is there anything else I can provide to reduce the overall cost?

Many thanks in advance for you advice

Tom

Check the FAQ
You need the 63k miles service and does include the fuel filter
The 54k miles one is the major with plugs

You can save some money by supplying oil
MOT's is a bit of a lottery with Honda dealers some are good and "overlook" minor stuff. Others work the systems.

BTW having changed a fuel pump to do my SC I know the fuel filter (which sits on the end of the pump hanging in the tank ) can be done from the boot. Though if the car is not under any sort of warranty I'd ask them to leave it alone!

The blurb I've read (on the Honda Service Schedule) says that the (platinum) spark plugs on S2000s need changing every 6yrs or 72K miles whichever comes first.

Sorry, I meant the 54k service was done in Aug 06 and altho it is now at 60k miles, I guess I need to get the 63k service done. Sounds like just a minor job, namely an oil change...

Shall I provide 0-40w oil or 10-40w? how much oil is required?

Also, still hoping to hear some reccommendations of good Honda garages in London - looks like Croydon is one to avoid? Chiswick Honda seems to get the thumbs up?

For all other Hondas but not the S2000

Lots of dealers get confused with this too!

DOH!! Apols. Yes, upon closer and more intelligent inspection, my Honda blurb does indeed actually say 54K miles OR 72 months - whichever comes first.
