Default GPW 1999 S2000 Rebuild and Restore

Hello everyone, finally got around to starting a build thread - bought my S back in April, and I'm well over half way through the project - with the front end back together now and 'just' the back end left. Took me ages to get hold of one in GPW - my fav colour for any Honda to be honest. Its a JDM import which arrived in the UK in 2002. I've been hovering on the forum for quite some time, reading and learning some basics of the S, but have wanted to own one ever since they came out over 22 years ago. But after years of driving mostly various DC2 Type R's (much more practical obviously!), I've finally got an S2k ! I hope you enjoy reading about my rebuild and restoration project - and please comment with any feedback as I am really a 'noob' when it comes to the S and I will need your help and suggestions along the way.

OK so here are some pics from when we picked it up and settled it into the garage, ready for the teardown ! There was visible rust on the driver's side front inner arch and this was also mentioned as an advisory on old MOT certificates and there was some surface rust visible on the rear arches too, but none of this looked too bad - back then anyway.

What a lovely day it was too to go see a S2k - we were the first to arrive even though the seller had many phone calls on the morning he listed it.

And by the end of the day it was tucked away in our garage - I SORN'd it straight away - as I wanted to spend as much time as it needed to get everything done before putting it back on the road again.

^^ What he said :-)

Looks great! 99 JDMs are the original and best - although I may be biased... ;-)

I also feel your pain with those bumper fasteners - what a pig they are when they're being stubborn!!

looks great, and rust on front bumper doesn't look too bad for that age and UK environment.
I'm looking forward to tracking this thread!
what are you plans for the car?

p.s. i prefer platinum white...

Yes we had a little play on the way back and it was a long drive ! But tbh being RWD I didn't want to push my luck! Plenty of pics to come

Yep love them in white especially - couldn't believe those bolts could seize solid - I mean they're not that exposed to the elements - or maybe they are ! But on a positive note we haven't come across any other seized bolts - I was worried the suspension bolts would be worse but they all came off in a jiffy !

Thanks - i just want to go through it bumper to bumper and replace anything old and worn, OEM+ where possible - maybe different wheels/tyres - lowered a bit and a decent exhaust - plus proper alignment and I will be happy with that - platinum white looking sweet - nice creamy tinge to it

Never seen those wheels for sale ever - anywhere - so no idea what they would be worth - but they're one of the unique JDM features so I'll probably keep them with the car - and have another set as the main daily driver set

They come up on here from time to time. More recently, people have been asking very silly money for them. I think I paid about £600 for the set I put on my old car.

Ok lets get some more pics uploaded - so the teardown continues and this is what we uncovered :

Took us over an hour to remove that bumper

looks like the original factory radiators

Underseal was bubbling and peeling off - we helped it along but didn't like what we found
