Default Air control solenoid

Hi, can anyone confirm what the air control solenoid does? The vacuum hose that goes from the non return valve to the pipe next to the throttle body came off on my car. Only noticed today but not had any CEL’s.

Now wondering what it actually does as the car has been running fine!

Also - what is inside that vacuum tank that the hoses are connected to?

Where do the hoses go after the hard line assembly fitted at the throttle body?

Cheers,
Mike

I think there is a charcoal fuel evap canister under the inlet mani somewhere, I suspect one of the solenoids controls when that's purged.
