Default Aircon re-gassing

My aircon has given up the ghost. Assuming that it's simply a re-gassing job (the car is 16 yrs old) is there anything I should be aware of before getting it done, potential hazards I can mitigate?

Nah, just drop it into a local air con centre. They hook up an automatic machine that empties it, fills it, leak tests it etc.

so basic even KwakFart can do it. bare in mind if any leaks are detected whoever does it can't recharge it. So beware of "sorry mate found a leak that will cost £XXXX"

I had to have mine replaced under warranty on a car I bought new in 2002. Dash out job iirc. Beware any car that 'just needs a re-gas'.

Any proper specialist will do a proper pressure test before they try to re-gas so just check there's no call out charge. Kwik fit used to make no charge if they coukdn't re-gas.
