WTF!!!

I'm gonna ignore the three button remote for the time being. Your other 2 two buttn remotes. Is one Button Convex, (Sticking up) and one concave (Indented). If so try

1 To arm Press the convex button. No need to hold it.The lights will flash several times. Just after the last flash press the same button again No need to hold down. More flashes but less than first time. If this occurs likely the second press has disarmed the internal sensors, as is the case with mine. You can check this obviously by sticking your hand or other extremity (Sorry) through the open window and waving it about

2 To disarm. press the indented button no need to hold down.Lights flash about 3 times. Within 2 seconds of the last flash press the same button again the boot pops open. That's my system. Try that first. If it doesn't work, soz but I'm out the game. Come back and somebody else will no doubt assist.

Is it an Import?

Cedric

n.b. I'm convinced a lot of these problems are being caused by this vague dealer advice to hold down the button. Once you've pressed it it's gonna do it's thing anyway! A second distinct press is required to start the second function going. I was given this hold it down advice and it drove me crackers too.

I have a Clifford 600 fitted and it was fitted in addition to the Honda immobilser by in Prestige in Harrow. It's the fourth they've fitted for me and the service is brilliant. Any problems with the alarm and it will replaced , not repaired, for a slong as I own the car !

Just in case, I got my car before the alarms were standard fit, thank God.

I have spoken to Honda UK today (My friend John Spencer - Some of you may know him better than others ) about the alarm.

Sadly, I cannot intercept Honda before they deliver my car to me and stop the alarm being fitted. It is fitted in the UK but marked as a factory fit.

They are not allowed to sell the vehicle without the alarm fitted - This is the agreed technical specification of the car in the UK.

They don't do a 'Microwave' component for the standard alarm.

I know that when I get my car I will talk to my Alamr specialist KLF* to see if they can swap out the Honda alarm and put in my own. It may not be worth it but I will see if this is a bog cost option,

Sam.

* KLF are the people who fit out and maintain all the trucks for Formula 1. I went down last week and spoke to them. They had just finished fitting out a Saudi Prince's motorhome. It had gold leaf all down the outside. They look after the Jordan, BAR, Williams, Prost and others Motorhomes. They also do drivers motorhomes. Jacques Villeneuve's is worth 1.6million pounds!

I think that they can do my car alarm if they can maintain the F1 pit lane .

ok, edited from the 'manual'....... here goes.. deep breath.

TO ARM THE SYSTEM
Press the raised button, the inidicators will flash 4 times.
If the central locking has been connected then the doors will lock automatically... same goes for other optional accessories, like window closers.

An onboard microprocessor controls each individual trigger facility ie: doors, boot, bonnet and ultrasonics, shutting down a circuit after 9 triggers. Therefore, all facilities together have a mximum of 36 possible triggers. The system re-sets the number of triggers when it is disarmed.

TO DISARM THE SYSTEM
Press the indented button. The indicators will flash once.
If the central locking has been connected, the doors will unlock automatically.

PASSIVE ARMING OF THE IMMOBILISER
The immobiliser circuits of the system will automatically arm in 30 seconds after the ignition has been turned off.
The LED will be lit for 30 seconds, this is the passive arming period.
Once it is immobilised, the led will flash once per second.
To disarm the immobiliser, press the indented button again.

PANIC FACILITY
The panic mode can be operated at any time by pressing the raised button continously for 3.5 seconds. (hold it down)
When operated the siren will sound and the indicators will flash for 15 seconds, after which it will cancel automatically.
If the indented button is pressed during the 15 seconds, it will cancel the panic mode.

ULTRASONIC EXCLUSION
Press the raised button, within 3seconds of the last arming indicator flash, press the raised button a second time. The indicators will flash a further 3 times. The ultrasonics will be re-instated next time the alarm system is armed.

ELECTRONIC BOOT RELEASE
Press the indented button. The indicators will flash once and the doors unlock. Within 3 seconds, press the indented button a second time. The indicators will flash twice and the boot will unlock.

There is a little more which tells you how to check which circuit was triggered if the alarm goes off or the car was tampered with. But its too long winded to write. Maybe if someone wants it then I will type it out. But really you should all have this in your manual.

phew......

My manual says "press the button again within 3 secs to open the boot".

Looked a right idiot yesterday with the indicators flashing repeatedly and the boot definately shut!

It does work occasionally doing the multiple presses. However, the most reliable is to keep the button pressed until the boot opens. It's about as reliable as a TVR . The boot stays shut most of the time.

My import has no alarm, which I haven't yet fitted, but one question on the remote, what range can you use it from, it seems that I can only open the doors/boot from about 6ft at most, yet my brother is 100yds away from his Impreza, not that it really matters, just wondered?

I've got no gripe with my alarm which is the Honda original. It does seem to operate only in close proximity to the car though. My previous car had a toad alarm which worked from much further away.

Mine works from about 20 feet maximum.
It also works through walls when I bend over to tie my shoelaces the panic button is sometimes depressed in my pocket (against keys etc) and sets the alarm off in the garage.
Keeps the neighbours on their toes
