Alarm going off, no flashing lights
Hi Guys, got a weird problem with the alarm on my 02 S2k and wondered if you could shed any light on it before I let the dealers loose on it.
Last night my alarm started to sound. When I looked out of window ito see if it was mine the indicators weren't flashing so scanned the street to see whos it was. Then the indicators started to flash on my car - it was mine.
I thought I'd just leave it as I know it's suppossed to reset it self. It didn't
It carried on sounding, breaking for two or three seconds before blaring for 30 secs. (indicators sometimes flashed and sometimes didn't)
So I sent Mr Mck out to look at it. He pressed the fob buttons but nothing happened. It eventually stopped on it's own accord.
This morning I went out to the car and the fob wouldn't open the doors, so used my key but then the immobliser wouldn't disarm.
Mr Mck thought it may be the battery so we tried to jump start it. No luck
We then tried to find the relevant fuses, tried the keyless entry fuse and starter signal fuse. No luck
He then noticed some other fuses that had plastic covers over them. These fuses were OK as well but he must have disturbed something as the siren started to sound. Pressed the unarm button and it worked, Yeah
We set the alarm and headed back in doors.
About two hours later the siren started to sound again (no flashing lights). We disarmed with the button and everything seemed fine (car starts etc).
Instead of locking the car with the fob we've used the key in the lock in the hope that this will not set the alarm and thus stop the siren sounding.
Any ideas as to why the alarm may be sounding with no flashing indicators and continually instead of resetting itself????
PS Battery is under 12 months old

Eveything you describe sounds like a weak battery.
I'd try that first as it's a cheap fix compared to anything else. Make sure there are no slight current leaks when the car is parked up and switched off. Anything which might drain a bit of current will harm the small S2000 battery pretty fast.

Mine did that after listening to the stereo on low volume for 10 mins.
Thee are loads of posts on here about leaving the car parked up for 2 weeks and the alarm draining the battery.
I don't do anything on mine without the engine running. My normal routine is always get in and start engine - then put hood down or whatever.
When I park up I always put up hood and windows, switch off fan and radio before I turn the engine off. Even then I worry if the car is left without running it for more than a week.

but it sounds more like the alarm unit itself is on its way out, Honda didn't fit the best alarms and a few have died.

sounds like it, it's not operating like it should
So if there is a lowering of voltage (i.e. weak battery) then alarms can really start to act up.
Therefore - as I said before - before investigating all the expensive options you should always check the battery first.

easy enough to test the battery, as it's only 12 months old and in warrenty i'd be going back to the supplier as they will happily test it and replace if faulty, if battery is shot upgrade to a bigger one
left stock, right biggest one that will fit in tray
