Default Alarm Siren

I have an 06 plate S2000 and i noticed today whilst cleaning the car that the alarm isnt up to much.

The reason i say this is that i was pressing down on the hood whilst cleaning it and the alarm went off. The worrying thing is the alarm is so quiet that at first i didnt realise that it was my car going off.

Has anyone replaced the siren for a louder one? I had a toad AI606 alarm and when that went off you knew about it! Something similar would be perfect. Im just wondering how easy it is to fit a new one. I would of thought its a straight swap

Does anyone know the car alarm uses the car horn as the siren? if so that would explain the volume as the thing on my car looks tiny.

Hi,
No, it does not. Have a look at this:

The siren is supposed to be on the left side of the trunk.
I'm trying to locate and fix mine:

Good luck!

As far I'm aware the siren for the alarm is in the engine bay left hand side in front of the suspension strut it's a little black box

I can confirm that the actually siren in an 06 car is located in the boot on the left hand side. This explains the lack of volume as the sound just bounces around the inside of the boot and doesnt actually make a great deal of noise. When i get a chance to have a look i will see if i can refit it elsewhere or fit the 120db one i have lying around.

You're welcome. And so it's on a 05.
I fixed (it was disconnected) mine yesterday but I can assure you there's NO lack of volume!
Have a look at this:

I think this is the connector on the trunk:

Anyway, is there on S2ki any GOOD info about the OEM alarm features and operation?
