Alarm systems
Hi all,
One thing I forgot to ask you guys at Rutland. I am ordering a Thatcham category 1 Alarm system with the S2000 as I am importing it and the UK insurance my look easier on me. What alarm systems have you guys got? Especially if you imported it!. Any failed attempts on car tampering anyone heard about?
Often.

Have you got the wrong end of the stick here? Thatcham Cat 1 is not a make, it's a standard that most insurers now insist that your alarm meets. What make is the alarm you have ordered!!

Sorry, didn't explain that properly
I have ordered a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm, I will get an alarm which is to this standard. I am not interested as much in the model as long as the insurance people know it is to that standard.
Anyone had any failed attempts then or jealous scratches or dents?

Not all Thatcham 1 are alike. I had one on a Z3 and it was useless
to the point of not even going off when broken into. I stick to Clifford because, though they are expensive, they do the business and if anything goes wrong the alarm is replaced, not repaired, for as long as you own the car.

I have an imported (from France) S2k, and pondered long and hard about the best type of alarm / security system to fit. Basically, three criteria came to my mind (in no particular order) - insurance requirements, detering people from doing bad things to my car, and getting the car back if stolen (I was considering fitting Tracker).
Insurance requrements were easy - it had to be an alarm graded to Thatcham cat. 1 (and, important this one) recognised by the insurance companies - not all Cat. 1 graded alarms are!
Deterent - I basically concluded a 'cheap' (
