Default Alloy care

Has anyone had any experience of alloy repair services? my drivers side rear got horribly mashed around the locking wheel nut, when the nut got jammed about three months ago (some mad frenchman took a hammer to it before i could stop him ). i could replace the wheel, but i'd guess they are not cheap, and the damage looks to be only cosmetic. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has used one of those mobile wheel repair people and how they got on.

thanks,

s

Taking a hammer to a Frenchman is always good therapy in these circumstances

I have not yet used them, mostly because they require 3 parking spaces and access to power for their van (essentially a mobile spray shop), but they will remove the wheel, and respray it for

Trust me, S2000 wheels are very easily damaged when having the tyres changed

Go somewhere good and they give you a new set

(Got the floor boards, loft part boarded. Anyone tryed getting a rear S2000 rim+tyre into a loft.... It's very tight and my back still hurts....)

Didn't really have a chance to quality control the supplier unfortunately. i was in the campsite @ le mans the night before the race started when i picked up the puncture. at that point you can't really go shopping for authorised honda franchises....unfortunately i picked a mechanic from the norman bates school of motor repairs.

complete nightmare, but, with 45 minutes to go before the race started the AA got a trailer into the campsite (past the queue of 5000 TVR's), the s2k onto the trailer, down to the local garage, got the puncture repaired (without taking the wheel off - the nut was too badly damaged by le psycho by then), got parked back into the campsite and got trackside in time for the start.

phew!

still left me with a mashed alloy though.
