They've kept the wear at bay on my hood for 2 years...and many others that I have seen with them.

I put some felt on mine, still went through.
The problem is that those corners on the soft top frame have sharp square edges. When I got my soft top changed, whilst the top was off, I took one of the curved drill bits for grinding and rounded those corners off and painted over with some black bbq paint. Two year later, no signs of wear on my mohair top.

I reckon if you find any sharp edges you can sand it down with some fine sandpaper with the roof still on.
I'd rather have them unpainted because you can't reach (might even be aluminium so no need for painting) than have a hole in the roof...

Hi all, been away a while; but thinking of getting another S2000 (haven't had one for a couple of years - only kept the 09 for 6 months) so popped back for a look see here on the forum. Only to find that the only useful thing I've ever contributed to any forum isn't the ideal solution I thought it was! Strange though how some folks have had long-standing success with the skins whilst others categorically haven't! I wonder why?? For those of you who are using the tear aid, can it be bought in the UK?? Maybe I should do a poll, but that would be making a meal of it! Maybe thing to do is to do all 3 things as in sand the edges, fit the tear aid AND fit the skins!!
Regards to all,
Mike

Mike, my suspicions are that those who have fitted these after getting a new hood fitted are having success, and those who are not having any luck already had wear issues on older hoods.

Valid point. I do wonder if any have suffered any lateral movement in the skins resulting in the velcro getting too close to the lining. That'll chaff like a hedgehog!!

Am I right in thinking that there was some sort of honda bulletin detailing the hood wear problem? I swear I stumbled across something with a link to a honda doc whilst looking to buy, but did I bookmark it?? NO! grrr
Anyone remember seeing something?
Also, anyone has any experience with a honda extended warranty and hood wear, know if its covered?
