Default Anybody know what this does?

I removed the boot/trunk lining as i suspected there was water leaking in. I was right, and the whole baggage pan was rusted with a nice hole in between the drain plugs.
I have now had a new baggage pan welded in, and the main source of the leak fixed (water was pouring in from the left side rear light). I have water tested the whole car and it seems dry, however i am finding a small amount of water pooling in the recess by the rubber seal (see pictures). This is where the spare wheel lives. I don't get the water when i wash the car, it seems to be when i have driven it. Does anybody know: what this cable is for, where it leads, do you think water is pooling there because it is a recess or is water coming up through it. Any help would be great

Thanks

Matt.

That looks like a connector and cable for one of the ABS sensors.

I don't know if water would be coming up through it. I guess there could be some capillary action if it's dirty enough, but then it would also work the other way so it wouldn't be pooling I wouldn't think. You could try taking it out to clean it and maybe shin etsu greasing it. Just don't let the cable fall through because it would be a bit of a pain to get it back up.

With regards to finding where the water is coming from, it could be your soft top drains being bunged up, or other stuff to do with your soft top. Other people know way more about this than me.

Water pooling there could be coming in from the softop drain that runs around the entire lower part of the roof - right above there funnily enough. Have a look with a torch and a mirror.
