Default Anyone changed ap1 to ap2 rear lights?

I'm doing this next week as a start to my 1 month project which I'll post up about in the next few days.

Just wandering If anyone else has changed from ap1 to ap2 (2004>) rear lights?

I've purchased a set in the UK but buying drivers side from the states so I have two reverse lights as I like symetry

I seem to remember someone doing it, and as I recall it's not a straight swap. There is some cutting required as the brackets differ, this may help LINKY

EDIT And another link CLICKY

Are you going to run 2 reverse lights or move fog light up into the right side?

I like the idea off two clear lights instead of one white and one red,

But would need a Red bulb that was clear when off but still worked well as a fog light, No point having it if its dimmer then any other lights, And MOT time,

I guess the US light plugs into are UK harness so it acts as the fog light not another reverse?

Currently I have ukdm lights so one with red fog socket.

As my cars a ap1 the fog is in the bumper and I've no plans to change that.

So basically buying a usdm tail light to replace the one currently with the fog socket so I have two reverse lights

Ive done it... you will need to cut up the car unfortunately...
make sure once you fit the lights to seal it up with silicone all around...
or else water will go in the lights
there is a step by step guide on the forums how to cut it etc... I have looked for it but couldn't find it lol...
l will send the link once i find it. Good luck

Some cutting is required on the inside as mentioned above but it can be done ... hopefully your replacment lights won't be like mine and fill up with condensation on occasion ... When we ordered the rear lights from HONDA they came in an identical pair, I could have sent one back and got the 'odd' pair with the red foglight, but decided to keep the identical pair and keep the foglight 'clear' lense but kept a clear lamp that glows red. this gives a symmetrical back end, which I wanted.

I've got two guides to follow so seen what's involved but thanks for your input

seems pretty simple, I've got a dremel and a big drill bit so should be ok
