Default Anyone fitted a steering column?

Evening all.

Having a bit of a confusing issue!

I had reason to remove my steering column (long story) which was fairly straightforward (I’ve done it one or twice before on S2000’s), however upon trying to reinstall it, I now find that the column is too short to connect the universal joint to the mid shaft in the footwell!

The column has around 10cm of slide to enable the UJ to slip over the mid shaft spline once installed, but this is too short to engage fully, let alone get down to the flat part of the mid shaft spline.

Am I being thick?!?

Thanks.

Dan

I am sure Daytona Dave can give some advice - but when putting the column back in - have you inadvertently pushed the lower section in further, from mid shaft where it joins the steering rack?
