Anyone with an invidia q300 and a noise meter?
I'm trying to find out how loud an invidia q300 is at idle and up to 3k rpm.
Anyone know how I can find out?
Importing one from the US looks fairly cheap even taking shipping, vat and duty into account but I can't afford to end up with something noisier than I have now.

What have you got now?

I got mine from LSD Motorsports, very quick and they can mark it down so as to pay minimal duty etc etc.
Sorry I havent any noise meter to give you an indication on sound levels. What exhaust are you currently running?

This may sound terribly simple, but why dont you just ring someone who has a Q300 and have them run their car at 3000 rpm for you to hear, with the possibility of another car for relativity of the noise (by way of comparison if you like)

Hi.
Down load a noise meter onto your smart phone. Place the phone about 500mm from the exhuast and have you partner or friend rev it at around 4.5krpm (track soind check)
Thats what I did with ny skunk2
- I just read your post properly and I doubt my input will help. Sorry!

Gary all the Invidia's i have heard are very loud, i had one alongside the other day on the M11 and its stupidly loud IMO.
Get the Tanabe medallion touring, costs more but noise proven for me at 87db at 6250rpm and also tested in Japan for noise regulations.

You tried downloading a noise level app from iTunes or Google Store, I've got a couple on my iPhone to give me some idea of levels (not perfect but gives you an idea).

Too many variables to do this with any level of accuracy, especially with crappy smartphone apps.
Presumably this is due to you upsetting your neighbours with your current exhaust?
In my experience of various friends with noisy exhausts paying a visit, it's the relative high level of low frequencies that is the cause of most disturbance. (For example, a neighbour's Audi TDi was of far more irritation than another neighbour's Subaru, for this very reason).
If my assumptions are correct, you best bet would be to have someone who owns one pop round for a visit.
You'll also need to take into account potential intake and decat etc.
HTH.

Gary, I followed Sam with his invidia at the recent megameet for many miles and his exhaust sounded great. No where near as loud as mine but loud enough to make it sound nice.
