Anyone know how to get a diff apart?

i took my diff off and swapped a new un in

how do i get the old one apart? I took all the bolts out and the casing is now loose but it wont come apart as far as i can see

the drive outputs are on and the prop drive is on with a mega tight bolt

Have a look at that

the pics helped Fest, tah

i popped a couple of bolts through the holes in the driveshaft flanges and pressed em off from a flat pry over the casing (which i thought might crack)

i cant see the damage but even with those off it's stiff as hell, i'll take it more to bits later

In short yup

It doesnt even rotate freely. A lot of resistance at certain points, for me that said fooked cog but i havent seen that yet

I cant see the issue looking at it case off..

It rotates ok briefly then hits resistance going very tight (only just turnable by hand) before going free again

that would suggest the little gear at the front is fooked but to my non expert eye it doesnt look it. I'd expect a bearing to just be rough all the way round but wtf do i know?

These guys propose a reason for failure which looks reasonable

You have to take the nut from the pinion shaft and tap the flange off in order to separate the case.
