I'm thinking of getting my hood replaced soon and going on recommendations on here, these guys seemed like a good to place to go. Only problem is their Facebook page says they are permanently closed, anyone know whats going on with them?

I think they got fed up with fussy S2000 owners, pretend you have an MX5 when you call and they'll pick up first ring

Last time I was over there (a year or so ago) he had said that ‘moaning’ S2000 owners had put him off the work!

All his work i've seen over the years seem to be a hit and miss. Some are really well done, other are not finished that well.

I think Jack died many years ago, but Raymond is still at it, someone posted on the Facebook owners page last week

I booked in with them for March yesterday - I've only ever read decent things, only time will tell

I finally after many years of a split hood and wet shoulders, I finally got to Jack Smith in Nov 2017. Great Guy - Great Service - Great Hood (and I'm picky).

What I would say after spending a few hours at his workshop, is the phone rings endlessly - he really doesn't need the work (told me he only does mx5 and s2k now) and is not the sort of person who will be messed around. He has a waiting list of 3+ months plus. If you phone up and want to book for an mx5 or s2k and are prepared to wait - all good. Otherwise, it's a short 'no'.

Great Guy (even if some of his views are a bit 'old fashioned'). And the hood replacement was excellent - wish I had done it 3 years earlier.

Simon
