Anyone in the UK ever had cracked valve retainer or shifted into the wrong gear?

Default Anyone in the UK ever had cracked valve retainer or shifted into the wrong gear?

I ask because I don't think I've ever selected the wrong gear on a downshift or any other time. I can see why in the US this often happens as they don't know how to drive manual but here we all learn on manual cars and I suspect that cracked retainers due to a mechanical over-rev just doesn't happen as often here (if ever?) Am I way off here or do you guys agree?

I think a lot of uk s2000 owners will get their AP1 retainers changed for AP2 retainers at a considerable cost - so my question is aimed at those in the uk (hence not posted on the us site) to see if there is an issue here and what the risks are regarding cracked retainers on AP1s remember this only happens on mechanical over-revs when you go into the wrong gear.

No just means shit happens, I did the down shift feck up once, but I have a facelift hence AP2 style retainers so confident (that was 10K ago) till I get valve clearances done and have them checked.

Just the one and the valve snapped too. Luckily it didn't drop otherwise it would have been game over.

BC titanium retainers here. Nearly 30k with no problems!

to be honest i'm only beginning to learn how to drive fast on track so i'm sure i will find out how easy it is to miss a gear on day!
