Bloody hell I couldn't believe it when I read it, I had to read it out loud to take it in!

The article was about the TVR Griffith & its biggest problem today, 'There are just so many good rivals around now that didn't exist in 1992 {Griffith launch}. Cars like the Honda S2000, Porsche Boxster, Mercedes SLK 320, BMW Z3M, Mitsubishi EVO and Subaru Impreza Turbo'.

Do you think they are getting ready to sell their long term test S2000?

Did I mention me and a Boxster S, admittedly 2 up in his, double the embarrasment though for him as I chewed his ass all the way up to 130mph (from 0) before he sheepishly moved over and skulked down a slip road, hee hee, I was Buzzing all night!!!!

Paul,
You beat a Boxster S to 130 - I didn't think that was possible with a stock S2000.
No doubt you enjoyed it a lot.

And yes Autocar must be getting ready to sell their S2000. I assume it is the one you can win for a month.

Paul do you think he went down the slip road to save embarrasment,he probably joined back again when you were long gone! Most Boxter drivers cant drive any way, they just have them for the name, well done!!!

From 0 is a bit misleading, both smartly away from a roundabout, me behind him, slowed by traffic joining dual carriageway, then traffic moved over at about 50, me in second you know the result from then on, goosebumps just sitting here reliving it,

Simon, The S is no longer stock . I don't think his Boxster was stock, obvious S on the boot and twin pipe in the rear, but this pipe looked different from other S Boxsters, don't know if they offer a 'performance exhaust option' didn't do him much good

Did notice however when I was 'on it' that there was not as much wind buffeting in his.

Who knows! Seems quicker, honest but that is probably the difference in a 10,000 miles dirty air filter (it certainly was) and new JR Filter that has been tested on the US forum with 2-3 BHp and a couple of lb/ft gain.

either way, claimed my second Escort Cosworth scalp on Sunday, must have been stock, but when I slowed down further up the two lane road he was mighty miffed as he crept buy, in this instance, we were along side each other coming off a roundabout onto a dual carriageway, lovely

Given that Autocar have always thought the S2000 is crap (read the "new cars" section at the back of the mag), this is indeed an odd comment. As is the rash of "win an S2000 for a year" - type competitions and track day promo's that they've been doing on the car.

Fair enough, they don't like it - evo is hardly enthusiastic about it either, but i don't understand why their dislike is based on a comparison with the boxster. the standard box is about 10k-15k more expensive (with all the leather/air con, etc. that is standard on an s2k), 20% slower and (imho) 30% uglier. if you compare it with a box S, which is closer in performance terms (although it appears not close enough...), the price differential puts the cars in a completely different category. Maybe the boxster S does handle better (dunno), but then maybe an f360 does as well. so what?, at 20k more, it should do something better after all.

Ooo, I wouldn't call that a rant, more a statement of fact still if you get a loaded
