Nina reminds me that during her time as an Asset Manager for Anglian Water they had some considerable faith in the bathtub curve to signal end of asset life
and that this looks a lot like that
but they made her drive around in a Rover for years so wtf do they know about anything ever?

Hondas traditionally follow the wear-out curve. Goes exponential pretty quickly IME and you rapidly surpass the write-off point.
Could have been worse for Nina - could have been an Anglia...

that's an accurate assessment Unc haha
I've not actually added up what this has cost but it is really good fun.. when it's moving. it will spin up the rears under any sort of provocation in these wintry conditions. It's sub £10k i'm sure, if i can make it reliable (and i should be able to albeit that might mean more spending) then it should do what i bought it for. if you think about it what car could you or i buy for £10k with over 300bhp/ton and c1200kg?
the chap at the MOT place talked about Soarers and Supra's as his history, said he'd never got Honda's really but he did like his mates S2. He didn't understand how a stock engine could just have a SC bolted on and make 400bhp without lowering compression but from what i've read (not finished yet) the stress doesn't have to be huge, obviously depends how many psi you run and how well you look after things i guess, the previous engine being an example of what can happen. This car seems to get hotter than stock but that's an obvious by product i guess, it keeps its fluids in check but it's not ready for track yet and i'd be a bit worried about heat with the stock bonnet and prolonged abuse.
so.. i'm happy with the tinkering, it's there to amuse me while i'm taking a bit of chill time and it's been a while since i used my spanners much so i dont mind. I'm sure the SC belt will fail and need new pulleys, the drive belt is a bit damaged from the last incident too . none of these things will be too painful. The S2 itself is a simple thing. The bushes look ok and some of the suspension has been greased, it was far from a nightmare removing the lower wishbone to swap the compliance bush (which is in the post) so onwards and all that. I might do the other side and then get it geo'd again as it'll be wildly out now i guess.
