My first year Ap1 has averaged 2K km a year for 20 years. The car got a yearly oil change. I have never had to add any oil between changes. Maybe added a fifth of a litre once. I have used Quaker State Synthetic 10W-30 from day one. Because of long periods of time that the car sits between drives, especially in the winter, I also use Molyslip every oil change. Never had it on a track, but make sure it's driven as intended on a regular basis. The oil level doesn't vary.

With regards to the Honda garage in question - I would accept it as an honest mistake and allow them to rectify. If something untoward happens in the near future then review..

I once had the car serviced before a weekend away, as a habit before leaving the next day I checked oil/water levells and found the oil approx 1.5l low, I called the dealer and moaned( I was an ex employee ), profuse apologies, I topped up and carried on, all was ok but that might not have been the case if I'd done the 400 miles first, next time passing the dealer I got an apology from the service manager, technican, who had been distracted when filling up? and 2 litres of oil to replace my stock I'd used, no problems yet 7 years later, Mobil1 0-30 was the oil flavour used at the time. After that I made a point of double checking, even though I do it myself now, you never know.

There are numerous horror stories surrounding oil changes dating from the beginning of motoring. Loose filters, loose drain plugs, wrong filter, wrong oil, no oil....
This is why I learned to service my own cars. Especially for simple things like oil changes. If I can't do it myself I always check up on the work I pay someone else to get done and I try to watch the mechanic while he's working on MY car if at all possible.
I'm a pain -in-the-ass customer.
I'd never go back to that place and I'd tell my friends to stay away as well.

Ask previous owner about oil consumption
Are you smoking from your pipes?
Hopefully no damage has been done to the engine, but I would try to find a recommended independent garage that actually gives a shite. Look or ask on here for some local knowledge

Not always a tell tail sign any more as many places suck the old oil out through the dipstick tube.

Definitely a case of just do it yourself in future!

The S2000 has to be one of the easiest oil changes to do and you will bond more with the car
