The Daily Telegraph published The AA's 10 Best Scenic Drives in 2008, and I also have the book The AA's Best Drives Britain (30 car tours for the independent traveller) ISBN 0-7495-4772-3, which your local library should have!

Infact, I can't be 100% sure of this, I think whoever placed the cameras on the C&F, played a brilliant game of keep the cuwntcillors happy and keep the enthusiasts happy too.

If you look at the position of the cameras, you'll see how you can make your stop at the top (Cat & Fiddle), then carry on knowing you are keeping mr Specs happy

The fact that specs is in place means no Secret hide behind a bush plod, and the only thing you need to look for is the odd chopper (looking out for white line crossers mainly who happen to be Bikers. I love bikes, but the idiot bikers (NOT ALL BIKERS BTW, JUST THE IDIOTS) are the reason the road gets a bad rep).

If you are ever up for a real mission, the drive from South Wales (Trefforest) to North Wales (Bwcle) is brilliant (A470, A49, A5). A mate of mine managed it in 2hrs 17mins....in a 1.2 Clio
They've recently made changes to the cameras so be careful
I rarely bother with Snakes, Woodhead, C&F or the EVO triangle

Try bestbikingroads for some great feedback

My personal favourite in this country is the Hardknott Pass / Wrynose Bottom / Wrynose Pass in the Lake District. Look for my pictures in this thread!

I've just had a look at the Cat Webcam.

It isn't very nice up there at the moment!

The best road I drove on is undoubtedly the road east from Ambleside to the m6 (A592).
It takes you through roads which have breath taking scenery and passes along Ullswater.

At the time, I had hired a B-class Merc for my work, which was very disappointing! How I wish I was in my car on that very day.

The later part of my recent post 'It Started with a Wedding Invitation', shows part of that route over the Kirkstone Pass and down into the Ullswater area!

Because of the inclement weather we took the direct route from Windermere. The route from Ambleside would be up The Struggle which was definitely impassable at the time. That road is difficult to climb at the best of times!

I had a great day driving and shooting.

The combination of a S2000, those roads, good weather and a jar of jaffa cakes made for a very big smile on my face!

In no particular order:

Evo Triangle
The road through Applecross in Scotland, and up near Glencoe
Cat & Fiddle
Buttertubs
A507 Baldock to the A10
