Flux are brokers, but many of their policies are underwritten by companies which the Flux family owns.

Chris Knott are brokers as well (they placed many policies through Highway who withdrew their support for the CK S2000 Owners' scheme, probably due to a high incidence of loss). Highway are owned by LV who usually get good reports.

Always read the small print when taking out insurance, particularly if you want a courtesy car in the event of any kind of claim. Most insurers will not provide you with one unless you specify, and you will usually have to use an "approved repairer" in order to get one.

Additional services cost them, and therefore you, more money.

Again though, is that the broker or the insurer?

I've paid to go back to AF today after 2 years with Chris Knott (which was the aforementioned Highway). At least AF didn't make a big fuss about a new owners club policy, and then decide overnight to just ditch us without any real explanation. I suppose I could have chosen to pay a lot more for some other insurer, but then you can probably find bad stories about just about anybody.
well lets just hope you never have to claim through them...plenty of recent shitty reviews here http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews-...html#tabs-menu

Having just experienced the joys of obtaining a quote it is astounding not only how much the pricing varies but also the policies.
AF came in over £200 more expensive than the best quote thus far and the comment here about companies withdrawing is becoming a common theme.
On the books of one insurance agent the S was the number one risk vehicle last year due to a new audience and an increase in accidents (as was explained to me).

Interestingly the two that came out best for me (A Plan and Sky) use the same underwriter (Marcus Hearn (AXA) I believe).
Oh the joys

Of course people are only going to write negative reviews.

Adrian Flux get 1.8 out of 5. Here's DirectLine (1.5):

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews11382.html

AA Car insurance (1.5)

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews9016.html

This is A-Plan. You'll notice all the reviews are good, except the one that involved making a claim who gave them 1/5.

Churchill get 1.7:

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews2627.html

Elephant get 1.9:

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews3669.html

Admiral get 1.8:

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews11381.html

Seems to be a pattern. Based on your review site, it seems Adrian Flux are actually one of the best. Or perhaps that should be least bad.

As I said, let's just hope you don't have to make a claim. The reoccurring themes of rudeness, and lack of after-sales support permeate that review site on AF, the others seem more random.

As it stands, after a week and a bit of back and forth E-mails, AF have just sent me one that states they will try to contact the underwriter on Monday. It would seem so far they have been the ones calling the shots, and the shots were saying 'we have your money, now **** off'.

Chavs who cant drive?

Admiral Group for us, have used Multicar for some time also.

They have processed three claims for us, two quite large.
Exemplary performance.
Mod friendly.
And polite

Cost is a secondary consideration to me.
I prefer a known quantity.

Well it's funny you should say that but .....
... the reason a well known agent is hiking prices is due to this reason. The age gap was raised as a result of the increase in accidents. The annoyance is that we all got hit this year regardless of claims - young and old.

Interesting comment about Admiral as I'm with them at them moment although their renewal price has just come in at £125 more expensive than the cheapest.

I'll give them a call tomorrow to see what they can do as they have always been good.

Just my 0.5 pence. I recently went with Tesco. Our (two drivers) annual premium was £744.45 with three years NCD.
