Correct me if i'm wrong but the MIB won't help you if it's just a "damage only" claim and in any event, even if you were injured, they still don't pay the first £300 of any claim.

Since I was hit by a foreign registered vehicle the "must identify the other car" clause doesn't apply according to the MIB's guide.
They cover you when you are not in the UK according to the same guide.
