Thumbs down Big Ends Gone (Back on the road)

Hi Folks,

Anyone know what a dealer well charge to fix it.

Anyone know anyone that can do it in the NorthWest? Specialist.

Any help advice?

Think you need to start looking at the breakers yards for a short motor - it will probably be cheaper in the long run. I'm sure Ian (AquilaEagle) must have some recent experience of doing this.

Who says the big end's gone - have you had a specialist look at it already?

It only went wrong this evening, I'm looking to find a specialist to fix it.

Bad luck and the car is such a nice one :thumbdown:
Take a look at the breakers thread for some people to call around. It will probably be best to swap out the engine for a new(er) one. You may need the ecu as your is jap and I have no idea if it will work as is......

I thought my big end had gone a few months ago, but actually it was a problem with the 4th cylinder. End result was a new short block which was

So it's not looking good, New Engine or replace engine seems to be what I'm be advised here.

Has no one just replaced the big end bearings and cups and thats worked for them?

I was hoping to whip the sump off and replace the bearings and bearing cups from underneath, with the engine left in place. Anyone tries it, or done it. This way would work out at least than

Can you not get a back street garage to remove the engine for you then have a look at the bearings?

I don't think you have much choice in repairing it, as you'll never sell it without an engine unless you only want
