no but if you have a road car that see's the occasional track action i think they would have enough effect for the money.
if you had a full blown race car then aerodynic proven parts would be a must.

I never looked into how good they are in offering stability or increased downforce, I've always though they look the most attractive though.

Rob, I agree on the race car thing.
For a track car you just want the back a bit more planted, no real science needed. But even for a track car how do you know the "Ebay special made by Dave in his shed" won't produce lift? Some of them do if you aren't careful.
At least with some of the ones mentioned here, they have some sort of testing and history of use by owners (mostly on the US forum)
Unless you really know what you are looking at I really can't see how you can guess at buying a DIY one.

Suits, I agree the J's ones are most likely to work as they use them on their actual race cars at top level racing, and i'd bet there's a lot of info they can give to support this. But I guess my point is that looks aren't everything.

Re having two bootlids - if it's function over form, how about just putting bungs in the holes when not in use? It'll save you a couple of hundred and it's probably easier to remove the wing than the whole bootlid?

what are peoples views on front bumper canards (if staying with standard)?
I don't imagine OEM lip spoilers create any downforce (or very little)....or another question, is extra front downforce benificial when using a rear wing?
