Default BIG 'up' for Scarborough De Vries Honda

Just had 27K mile service. With only 3200 miles on the car (just got it - it's 3 yrs old). Cost?

But it did need to be done.

It's on a 12 month or x miles ratio.

I think it foolish to scrimp on such issues. I would be happy to have all the axles/diffs/box oils dropped at 3 years. All that oil, sat there, irresp of mileage, going off.

Bad move in my opinion.

At the least, swap the oils yourself.

310-162 = 148.

148 will not buy you much of a diff

Mike - All you had done was a standard 36K service for the same price that everyone who uses DeVries gets charged.

I had my 36K service done at DeVries Hull in June and supplied the oil. The service cost was reduced from

Many thanks for the input.

OK. Not so big a 'big-up' then!
Maybe I'm more of a pillock than I'd previously thought!
For you guys obviously more in the know than I, here is the car's service history
PDI 12/06/04
FIRST SERVICE 31/12/04 (AT 1219 miles) Grays Honda Essex.
SECOND SERVICE 23/07/05 (AT 1826 miles) Grays Honda Essex.
THIRD SERVICE (shown in book as 18000mile/24mth service) 29/07/06 (AT 2342 miles) Grays Honda Essex.
FOURTH SERVICE (shown in book as 27000mile/36mth service) Today (AT 3286 miles) DeVries Honda Scarborough. Everything done as per Euro Service 9000 miles Honda Service Schedule EXCEPT * change air cleaner * replace rear diff fluid (annotated 'not done due to mileage')
The first owner who bought the car new bought an extended warranty. As such, the car still has two years Hondacare Guarantee (HN2 + full AA cover) until 12th June 2009. Given that todays service was done by a Honda dealer, I'm assuming here that they'll have done whatever is required to at least keep the aformentioned extended warranty valid!

This is quite common & I am sure it's why there are premature rear diff failures.

Maybe the oil age-deteriorates.

I'll be using a reliable independant garage from now on as my car is no longer in warranty.

Let me know if you find one. I had my 54K at deVries Hull, service was ok I suppose. Before having the service, I asked if the spark plugs where included in the service? "No". So I explanded to them that Honda had changed the service shedule for the 54k, but they insisted that they didn't need doing yet! So I went home and printed off the HUK service notice which states that the plugs need changing at 54k not 63K! There response was well thats not included in the price (So I ended up changing them myself).

When I went to pick the S up the service manager/master technician said that there was a strange vibration when de-accerating in 3rd. I stated that this was a common fault on the earlyer cars as they had been fitted with the noisy 054 clutch plate! "054 whats that?" .Never mind I said, collected my keys and left nearly 350 notes lighter!

I think when the S is next due for a service I will ask them just to change the oil, so they stamp my service book. Then I will do the rest of the work myself!
