Default Billman Gen-X TCT Experiences

Hi.

I think I have the early signs of needing a new TCT. Americans love the Billman TCT, but it's quite expensive when you consider you have to give him your old TCT.

I've also read that some people have had failures on the early ones. One person had problems with gen 1-4 and moved to another. I was wondering if all the problems are sorted with the 10th iteration. I know he has a lifetime warranty, but sending back and forth to USA is a bit of a ballache, and I haven't read anywhere who pays postage.

So basically, I'm wondering if anyone who has the Gen-X TCT from Billman has had a problem?

OEM is actually the cheapest option. Toda and Ballade are other options. Ballade also has a lifetime warranty (again though, what about postage costs).

In terms of actual monetary outlay, Toda and Billman seem fairly similar, but with Toda I'll get to keep my old TCT, which to me is a good thing.

I've had a billman gen 1-4 tct and everyone failed. The fact that it is on a gen X shows its reliability.

Get a ballade sports one, I've had one years and they are still on Gen 1!

I decided against a Billman one on the grounds of cost, his support attitude when it goes wrong and the number of issues the have cropped up.
I'm getting the existing one refurbed if that doesn't last I'll go Ballade

Too late - should have got it before the pound took a dive seems to be only around 7% more expensive than it was yesterday though

Thanks guys. You're right Ben I should have got the Ballade last night. Oh well. The Toda looks more inviting now because it's still the same price. If it ever has problems though, it's probably a case of buying another TCT.

I don't have the confidence to do it myself. I need my car and I don't want to risk messing it up or it taking me longer than expected.

I think I'll go with the Ballade. Then I can mess around with my current TCT.

I've had the Billman Gen-X TCT for just over two years without problems. Installation and transaction were smooth and flawless. I'll let ya know in about 5 years when the car gets another 25,000 miles.

It shows he actively improves the design. You think the S2000 we drive around in is version 1? How many iterations did the OEM TCT go through before it was released to the public and we still ended up with early failures?
