Default Blue smoke

Hi,

Friend was driving behind me today and noticed blue smoke comming from the exhaust. It only comes under hard acceleration and I have not noticed it myself before.

What are the common causes for this? Would like to get to the bottom of it before any thing major goes wrong, or do I need start fearing the worst at 111k??

What are the common causes for this?
Oil being drawn past the control rings on the piston and getting burnt

Damaged PCV valve allowing oil to be drawn from the rocker cover/crank case and into the inlet manifold.

Pull the plugs and check for signs on oil contamination as a first stop, but all <04 engine burn/use oil to some extent, so i wouldn't worry unduly just yet.

are you certain it was blue and not black? ....Black smoke is more likely to be overfueling.
