Congratulations Toby!

Best of luck with the running-in.

Great news i'm sure it'll all be fine, you have being very meticulous in the build which will bode well for many miles to come

Toby and I had quite a few phone calls over the last few days, I was fairly confident of what he mostly and I had helped do.

nithign logically pointed to build issues I thought it was either ignition/.edu or fuel this poor starting and lumpy running

onward and upwards

To be fair first startup I was confident in, had it turning over before hand and all seemed great. I was/am more concerned with the rings bedding in and condition really. Guess I'll find out when I do a compression check.
I guess the other test will be when I get hold of a turbo kit and start putting 14-16psi of boost through it.

Good read and well done that man, I would not have had the patience for that, hated rebuilding Radicon gearboxes and hand scraping bearings on turbine pumps, always seem to end as “that’ll do,near enough”. No failures though.

It’s still running , and Toby reports still far smoother than ever !!! He said before weekend around 250miles on it now.

he also said Zero oil consumption, already seems like rings bedded in just fine.

he has flushed the cooling system now with huge amounts of coolant , he reckons he has all of the coolant flushing and refilling tricks now mastered ! There was a lot of crap in the water pump from the original failure , mixed oil and water
Some how we forgot to clean it.

Excusable - I'd never even thought to have cleaned the water pump.

To be fair I knew I had to but somehow completely forgot when the time came.

I've changed the oil over to semi synthetic(first 500miles on mineral oil), had a tiny amount of the very fine filings on the end of the sump plug one tiny slither of silver metal maybe 1-2mm long, so I'm happy with that. Drove to my brothers in London no issues what so ever for over a 1h40 drive each way and still zero oil consumption.

Checking compression next week along with oil pressure(suspect my gauge is starting to die but best to make sure)

I've been talking to the guys at inline pro as their turbo kits do fit rhd (though with some modification to abs block I think) Looking at going with the stage 2 kit with a gtx3076r gen 2 turbo.

Checked the engine compression today. Funnily enough all 160-165psi... though a cheap gauge .. but they're equal. And there's no oil consumption.

Also checked the Vtec solonoid filter just for peace of mind and make sure no metal is being collected.

Gearbox and axle oil changed...had been in there far to long so that's made a nice difference.

my oil pressure gauge was going all over the place, decided to not go cheap this time and get a aem gauge. Getting 25-35 psi on idle and around 85-95 psi on full chat.
