Default Brake caliper unstuck

Freed up a front left caliper stuck piston on the S2000 and put OEM pads back in for now.

First time I've took a piston out and pretty straightforward, got the gf to press the pedal to force the piston out (only half pedal presses to stop master cylinder issues). First step was to scrape the rust off and out of the groove around the top as it was causing the seal to not sit flush, letting more water in. WD40 and a plastic card was enough to clean the gunk up and some light use of P180 sandpaper to get the high spots off

Hardest bit putting it back in is getting the dust seal around the piston so ended up removing caliper from car to do it off the car.

Hopefully it will stay free now although a refurbed caliper is only £60. If you can do basic car maintenance though it's pretty straightforward

I've now got a flat battery though, doh

You're on borrowed time.

Well I can at least drive the car now by freeing it up.

I did this a couple of years ago but I polished this piston with cutting paste. It's been fine and I'm due my third mot on it shortly.

Good effort . Why spend money on new parts when you can prolong the life of the existing parts.

I have to agree though, borrowed time it is. Atleast you can still motor for the time being!

Had the same issue recently, but the nearside rear sticking. We've free'd it up a few times but it will keep sticking, so today I ordered a refurbed caliper from Brakes International. Not Honda's fault, its thanks to Nissan which is amusing!

Nissin not Nissan

I imagine those pistons are coated so now it will just rust again? You can buy a new piston kit but I think it's better to import from the US as parts here are daft money

Or just buy a refurbed one

That'll last another few years easily, I did the same to my crx pistons and had the car for another 6 or so years afterwards without problems
