Brakes are stuck on and no the calipers aren't seized
I need help as I am stumped now...
My front calipers are locked on and won't back off. My pedal over past year or so has been slightly long and spongey. Took car out yesterday morning and passenger side lockded on and wouldn't release. Took caliper apart, pushed pistons back and bleed. As soon as i pumped up the pedal it pushed pad into disc and doesnt back off so locks. Went to drivers side, bled that side and now thats locked on.
Its almost like the valve that allows an amount of release after breaking is seized or jammed??
Please help as can't drive car now, only way to make front release is to break bleed nipple and push piston in. No fluid comes out when breaking bleed nipple when locked.
rebuilt master cylinder 2 years ago when it let go.

your abs does a self diagnostic when you start up, any codes?
is just the front locking, not rear? i would guess master cyl. abs are cheap used and easy swap tho..

Very odd - I've heard of collapsing flexi hoses doing that. But both sides going on strike at once seems a bit of a coincidence.
It does sound as if the master cylinder piston isn't withdrawing properly and opening the port to the reservoir.
I take it you've checked the caliper slider pins etc are all lubed and free and the pads likewise?

Yes it's all free at the rear, the fronts are 4 pots.
ive ordered a new master cylinder from America for £80 as that's the o ly thing it can be.
I've got SS lines so not collapsing

Could maybe undo pipe at MS for fronts brakes ?
and see if it realeases

Whilst you’re waiting for the m/c to arrive it may be worth building up the pressure in the brakes then splitting a pipe or hose midway between callipers and m/c, if the pressure releases the problem is further up the chain, if not you need to work back down to the callipers, I have seen the internals of even wire braided hoses collapse creating a one valve too.
