Car drifts when braking
I have really odd behaviour that has only just started (last 2 days). When braking at speed, the car feels like it drifts right then left but doesn’t pull the steering wheel in any direction. This seems more noticeable that faster you go (i.e. above 60mph). The steering wheel doesn’t vibrate when braking either. At slower speeds it feels normal.
My pads have around 5-6mm left on them and the discs have been on for the last 4 years of me owning the car, so I guess they are probably original. The car is 2003 and has don 73k. I’ve also checked the brake fluid and all is normal.
If I replace the pads and discs (which need replacing anyway) will it solve this odd behaviour or could it be something underlying?
Cheers.

They all do it a bit when braking hard.
If I was going to get it checked out I'd do it in the following steps.
First: Tyre pressures (nice and easy)
Second: Check all calipers, discs etc (I'd stick it in at my local garage as I can't be arsed anymore)
Third: A top notch geo set up... worth every single penny.

Thanks all for the replies.
I've already checked the tyre pressure and confirmed it isn't the tram lines created by trucks. So, it needs further investigation and I am not very mechanical when it comes to cars unfortunately.
I've just spoken to Rob from Garage-R to get it in for the full monty (72k service, MOT, possible new cat, new pads, new discs etc..).
Just want to get the car back normal as it has taken a beating this winter.
As always, thanks for the feedback BTW. Just nice to get a second opinion on these things.
