Default Car not running right...

Hi all,

Bit of help would be appreciated.

I have a 3" exhaust system from the manifold back (which is standard) and recently somewhere on the system, a blow / leak has developed.

I initially thought it was the join from mani to centre section so fettled with that a bit which seemed to help but now it's blowing again and car is not running very well (lumpy on idle, occasional hesitation in acceleration).

Got under it again today and it actually looks like it's the manifold! Looks like the welds where the mani is braced to the chassis have failed! So that would make sense.

Ok so do I require of new manifold or do people anyone know of any good steadfast repairs that can be done that will last?

If I require a new manifold, assuming its a pig to change, how long to change?
How much is a new Honda unit?
Anyone have one spare?
Or failing that I may as well change to a performance item, any recommendations to fit onto my 3" system without too much fettling.
Any ideas on costs would be useful, not that I have too much at the moment having just spent well over £1000 on things for the S2K recently.

Thanks.

Honda Manifold price here (make sure you are sitting down): http://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda...block_03=19250

Plenty about 2nd hand though.

Yeah they don't sell very well second hand so sell for little amounts, £30 to £40 or so. They are quite easy to change too although you need the car fairly high off the ground so that you can feed it out downwards.

Can anyone give me pointers on manifold replacement? I can see it being a pig! I don't even see how you can remove it from the car underneath.

TGM at fleet had my manifold out and a PLM manifold in, in less than an hour. It's really not bad, but the car needs to be on a lift really.

Don't forget to buy a new gasket for both ends.

There's not much to it, but it's a bit fiddly.

The black heat shield next to the manifold has to be removed and the heat shield on the manifold itself.

Undo the cat from the manifold (I can't remember if you need to remove the cat out of the way or not now?).

Remove the small bracing bracket from between the down pipe of the manifold and the bell housing.

Remove the nuts that fix the manifold to the cylinder head.

Take the manifold off the studs and downwards out from under the car.
