A Change of tyre I would never normally do
Up until Yesterday I have been Running the Bridgstone SO2 on the rear and the totaly dreadful Pirelli P600 on the front.The Pirelli are useless on the S so much understeer in any weather condition I now have gone for the Falken 452 on the front and in the dry the grip is fantastic havent tested wet running yet but sos far so good. On the rear I fitted Falken ZE912 and gave them some punishment today and again held on very very well in the dry a decent stiff walled tyre that makes the S feel planted very happy so far.

Interesting. I'm looking at getting a new set of tyres in the next few weeks. And these are cheaper than the ones I was going to get. And available. What are they like when giving it a foot full out of corners? And if the tyres you 'did' have on were the P6000's. I agree. Absolute crap. Originally made for Jag's I believe. But lots of companies seem to fit them to their cars. I've had a few cars with them on and they were utter poo. They were even on my Subaru as standard....again, poo. I was thinking of going for Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. But I'll watch this thread and see what happens.....

To be fair, you fitted comfort and grand tourer tyres to a sports car expecting performance tyres like the Falkens/Bridgestones, etc.
I have Pirelli P-Zero on the rear of my car and they stick like shit once you get the heat in them and very hard wearing. So all in, they are a great tyre, but sorry to state the obvious, but they are high performance tyres... |
The ones on my S are supposed to be good.... Yoko Advan Sport V103's. Personally I think they're shit. When they're cold they're very slippery, and once warm....no better. Makes for entertaining driving around the Cat'n'Fiddle though..... :burnrubr: But compared to P6000's they're amazing!

Why the different Falkens on front/rear? do they not not come in correct sizes all round. Or have I misread the OP.

Hi Martin J the only reason the difference front to back was i couldnt get the rears in the 452 but read some info regarding the ZE912 which were a bit of an all rounder so I thought I would give them a go. Hi Chad I give them some major stick and they were very well planted to the road also no wallowing from the side walls. It been rainning here so popped out for a test and again very grippy went through some deepish puddles didnt feel no lift or aquaplaining I am very happy but these are brand new dont know what they will be like once worn in a bit but will update after a few thousand miles. Gbduo in all honesty when i first got the S I hadnt done my homework when it came to choosing the right tyre went to my local tyre shop for a set of replacement Bridgestone for the front he never had any I said give me an equivalent he parmmed me off with the Pirelli and I regretted ever since. I have learnt a lot about the S since owning it And I can honestley say the car has not felt this good the steering feels so much lighter and responsive with the 452 I cannot believe how heavy the P600 were.

I had the 912 on my mondeo and found them to be not great, so I wouldn't put them anywhere near my S. Easy to get wheelspin when pulling away, and wore unevenly, becoming noisy after a few k miles. The S really needs some sports tyres or you won't get the best out of it. IMO, it's pointless spending £££s on what was a £28k sports car and then skimping on tyres. I suspect it'll be horribly understeery when pushed. But if you're happy, it's a few quid saved in austere times.

I put 452's on my beater a few week ago the things are BLOODY LOUD!

Loved 452's on my modded Octavia vRS, did as a good tyre on the Accord, couldn't get them off the ITR quick enough. Be very interested in testing a s2000 with them on since it's RWD.

I just bought a new set of Bridgestones - nearly £500 :(
