Default Cheapest place for dynamat or similar

Please don't flame but the forum search on mobile app returned 1000 responses for dynamat mostly in the US.

All I want to know is who is the cheapest UK supplier of the stuff.

Reluctantly I also ask if any alternative is equally as deadening and lightweight?

Thanks in advance

I've used Silentcoat stuff in my car, from Car Audio Direct: http://www.caraudiod...ng/damping-mats

Buy as much as you think you need.

Alternatively, someone mentioned using roofing bitumen or something.

I bought a large roll that weighted 22 US pounds. When I did my roll bar I did everything behind the seats to the back of the car. Weighted the roll afterwards and ended up using 6 pounds. Best 6 pounds I have added to the car.

Cynic , I was looking at this sort of stuff , never had Dynamat in my hand but seen lots of comment on the net, wander down to B & Q or similar and buy a roll of roof flashing , it's the same stuff without a fancy name by all accounts, thin lead sheet on a sticky bitumastic backing ..

Think I will now have a butchers at this myself .

Cheers guys. I've have a look at B&Q and the site LG, but I thought the benefit of Dynamat was being lightweight? Won't roof flashing be fairly heavy? My mates a roofer so I could be quids in on his offcuts if its a goer. :)

If you get there before me Chippo, let me know your thoughts...

EDIT: this looks good for price and weight

Part of how this stuff works is the fact it's a mass damper. Without the mass (weight), it doesn't really work! They can do things to make it dissipate the pressure waves without quite as much mass, but you'll always need the weight there. So you'll never get a particularly lightweight option.

The doors do close with a lovely thud with the sound deadening added, so it's not all bad. I have the doors, boot, spare tyre area and rear tray done with this stuff and it's a good improvement. It only adds a fraction of a % to the overall weight, so it's not really a consideration.

FWIW, the Silent Coat volume pack works out as roughly half the cost of the stuff from Wickes (£49.99 for 1.95m[sup]2[/sup] of silent coat or £43.49 for 0.9m[sup]2[/sup] of Wickes)

I used Wickes self-adhesive flashing tape in mine http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Self-...mx10m/p/243010

Not sure of that roll you linked to has self-adhesive or not (or whether you want sticky or not)
