Chirping sound when chaging gear

When changing up through the gears on full throttle, i can hear a chirping sound. Its high in pitch and sounds like it could be something rubbing together from the engine bay. Im sure its not the wheels spinning.

Woundered if anyone had a simallar experience

Sounds suspiciously like an intake squeak to me. I have a similar problem, and although the throttle body butterfly has been cleaned and the intake system scrubbed, its still there!

Will be replacing the intake manifold soon, so will keep you posted!

Rears breaking traction?

Si2k 08-22-2007 02:10 PM

Probably something rubbing as the engine moves under torque.

Why is replacing the inlet mani gonna help?

Is your foot at the same position each time?

Someone in the know came on here a bit ago saying it was the injectors and it is normal. I hear it in every gear depending on foot position on throttle...

Similar thing happens in my 1yr old car. It's just one squeek as I lift off the clutch after engaging a higher gear. Usually on harder / fast changes.

To my - admittedly untrained ear - it sounded like it was coming from the rear of the car. But I thought a brake noise was coming from the rear, it turned out to be from the front!
