Hello all.

I have ahd my S2000 for just three weeks now and love the car. Well I love car except for two things:-

1) Nightmare gearbox

When I shift from 1st to 2nd - major crunch, 2nd to 3rd another crunch. Gearing down is fine, and shifting through the other gears tends to be fine.

2) Jumping

When moving of (especially on a bumpy road) the car kangaroo hops for Britian. why does the car do this?

Has anyone else had these issues, or am I just a completely pants driver?

Your handle makes me wary of responding to this but just in case your for real here goes:-

The Kangarooing is a known problem, however it only usually occurs when stuck in standing traffic for a while. If this is not the case then it sounds like something isnt quite right.

The gearbox sounds like a definite problem, the gearbox in these cars is second to none, if your crunching it when shifting normally then its a problem.

If your car is EU/UK and still covered by warranty then take it back to the dealers and get them to check it over.

My current S2000 is a 2001 car and is completely different from the 99 car I had in relation to the Kangarooing.
It simply doesn't do this anymore.

The old car did this and I remember someone technical on this board explaining that it was related to the triple synchromesh in 1st gear.

As for the gear change I have never had a problem with this change. It is astounding. It is possible that since the gate is so small you may be getting use to the shift movement and over shifting. However, if you feel that this is unlikely take the car to your dealer and have him check it out.

I used to have Kanga behaviour until I realised the problem wasn't the car it was me. I tended to be a bit "stabby" on the throttle. The S2000 has very rapid throttle response for small openings in the throttle. I've found that since I've concentrated on being very smooth on the throttle the Kanga's gone :D

My guess is that it's either the clutch juddering or the engine trying to stall.....
