(clutch buzz) New clutch required?!
Hi all,
I have, what I belived to be symptoms of clutch buzz. Buzzing noise occuring during decel approx 3000K. This for me wasn't an issue, so been living with it for approx two years.
That is until recently.....I thought I'd open up the throttle and vtec my honda. Nothing wrong with that. Still sounds good when engine really wakes up!
Since that day, in addition to the buzz at 3000 revs, there is a buzzing region approx 1000k. This even occurs on idle when starting up cold and 'idling down'. Story doesn't stop there, also a buzzing round 6000k!!
I'm no mechanical genius, but it still seems like clutch needs replacing now. What do you guys think, clutch or something more sinister?
I phoned up Honda Cov and they quoted £1000 clutch and bearing?! Now that sounds expensive! Does anyone know of any recommended garages in midlands (nottingham / coventry / birmingham way)?

drive upto garageR - 2hour drive and he'll have it done for a reasonable ammount (£200+parts)
it's about a day job.
clutch buzz is generally heard on overrun, so it might be something else..
the only other common issue i can think of is TCT, although since i've not had it on mine, i cant compare the sound to clutch buzz - im sure someone will be along to confirm...
does the car feel fine when driven?
im not sure about garages around midlands; i do all my own work, apart from clutch (done at GarageR), and geometry (done at CG)

Car drives fine. No issues with applied power or odd vibrations. Ill have a look into past tct issues
and see if it ties up with my problems.
ill see if i can capture the sound and upload it on here.
Defo will give garage r a ring early next as he comes highly recommended.

Thanks for your replies!!!!
I'm going my S on the ramp first (hopefully before the weekend) and check out the cat and heat shield before taking car in for clutch replacement (if needed.
Mr Pitts will PM you for garage details.

Put the S on the ramp and you guys are right......
Three bolts holding the heat shield were missing! Bolts tighened and S back normal! Plus no expensive clutch to replace!
