Default Clutch getting heavy - cheapest way to replace?

My clutch is getting heavy these days, and is also starting to get a high biting point. I get used to it after a while, but it's accentuated when I drive another car and come back to it.

It's not slipping, but I'm starting to think that it might need replacing. It's a MY00 car with 87k miles, but I'm sure it's had one before my ownership as it doesn't buzz like most 054 clutches do.

Would it be best to change now, or wait until it starts causing a problem?

Also, what's the cheapest way to change a clutch - import from hardtopguy and get independent to do it?

Has anyone managed to get the clutch changed cheaply. Is it worth going OEM?

I'm skint at the moment and

If the pedal's getting heavy, it may be worth exploring the possibility of it being the clutch fork.

There's a thread on here explaining how to do it which I'll try and find, but basically you have to get under the car and remove the clutch slave cylinder. Once that's off their is a rubber boot that you take off and you can get to the clutch fork through a small hole. What you need to do is get as much high temperature grease as you can in there.

If it genuinely is the clutch then the most expensive part is the labour, 4hrs IIRC. What I'd do is source the relavnt parts from Davey 2 (I think he gives 10% off) and then get an independant to fit it.

DON'T TAKE IT TO ENVY PERFORMANCE! Whatever you do!

I took it there and got the S back with 3 bolts missing form the bellhousing and the rubber boot ove rthe fork slashed! STAY AWAY!
