Collect new car or have it delivered?
OK, I have to make a decision here:
My car is coming from Norton Way Honda down in Letchworth, should I go down on the train to collect it or let them deliver it?
Pro's & Con's to both but I am worried that if they deliver it to me at home and I find a fault then I am either going to be stuck with the car or just overcome with the need to keep the car anyway.
I am probably just being paranoid about this (too much time on the forum hearing horror stories about dealers ) but would welcome any advice...

I've bought the car through MSN Carview (can't believe I'm actually buying a car through the Evil Empire of Microsoft) who say it will be delivered via transporter if you live more than 100 miles from the dealer.
Given I'm ~190 miles from Letchworth it should come on a transporter and not be driven. But, being paranoid, I'm bricking it that someone is going to cane it up the A1 to me

)............collect the car yourself - it reduces the chances of anything nasty happening to the car in transit (either driven or loading/unloading from transporter). It also gives you the opportunity to give the car a good look over before taking delivery.
I collected my car from Liskeard, Cornwall - about 200 miles from home. If you are running back along motorways, remember to vary the revs a bit - its best not to run for long periods at constant revs during the 600 mile break-in (and keep revs below 6000rpm
Hope it all goes well

I'd get the train as you can put 190 run-in miles on the way back
You've also go the piece of mind about seeing that its in pristine condition before you take the keys.

Go and collect it. That way you get to check it out at the dealership, there's no chance of anyone caning it on the A1 and you get the first chance to play on the way home.
I picked mine up from a dealership 125 miles away and smiled all the way home.

I picked my car from the dealers 5 miles away.... It's a bugger thinking of somewhere to drive where you know your pride and joy wont get trashed (you'll be paranoid for weeks....).
Don't worry enjoy it.
In addition to the revs, watch the brakes and let them bed in....
BTW give it a good thrashing

A neighbour of mine used to deliver cars all over the country. He and the other guys used to fight over who got to deliver the better ones. I remember him telling me about driving an ITR from Dover to somewhere in Scotland and how he'd redlined it most of the way, nearly wiping out a couple of times. As he was telling the story I'm thinking .... If that was my car...
Definitely go and fetch it. Have a good look at it. Check the oil. You really do want to put those run in miles on yourself.

I'd be staying over the night before in a B&B just waiting for the Dealership to open. Go pick up the car, you know you want to...
I'll be picking mine up from Dover when it arrives (eventually).
Often.

Often:
You just sent a cold chill down my spine. It's fallen my sad lot in the past to spend numerous overnight stops in Dover. What a God awful place! The capital of nothing to do. Pubs are empty. You can always go back to your digs though and read your Gideon Bible Then there's the seagulls making a racket all night..... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!
