Cooling Fans Constantly On - Rad Temp Switch - OEM or Aftermarket
#11
Haha! that was one of the first things i checked. Had to make sure
Yep the AC was off
Assume due to the switch being right at the bottom of the radiator it can't suck in any air??
So you dont need to bleed the system, just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one - Is that it??
Cheers guys for the comments.
Might go genuine for peace of mind.
Is the car still ok to drive as it is?

You will properly find that Honda go to the cheap guys to source their expensive switches, just go to a motor factor, don't bother with Honda, it's just a thermal switch after all.
Fine to drive, just run a bit cooler, my old CRX had a thermostat that was stuck open for months, only noticed it when the winter came and it took a while to heat up.

I will get the Cambiare one. I can even buy a spare one at that price. lol
No need to bleed the system, just fill the radiator afterwards.

Just an update to this thread.
I purchased the Cambiare thermo rad switch.
The install was straight forward, the under trays were abit fiddly to remove and a couple of the clips broke (so be aware of this as you may need spares)
Once the under tray was removed the rad switch was easily accessible.
Before removing the thermo switch I disconnected the connector from the old rad switch and connected it to the new switch.
I turned the car to pre ignition and the fans stayed off which confirmed the diagnosis. (the old rad switch was stuck in the closed position)
You will need a 24mm deep socket to loosen and tighten the thermo switch.
I only realised this last minute so popped into my local halfords to get one. (note: deep socket is a 1/2 inch drive)

Removed the old and installed new, coolant leaked out for a second or two but wasnt too bad.
Started her up and ran the engine for around 10 mins or so.
Fans kicked in as normal
Drove around for a about 30mins and all temps were good.
Thanks for your help guys
Amazing savings over Genuine Honda part, hope this one lasts.
