Default Correct Oil

Sorry about this as I am sure it has been answered a million times but cant find it in the search.

What is the best oil to use in my S. Just needs topping up rather than a full change.

Thanks

5w40 fully synthetic

Mixed opinions on what works best but I sware by Motul 300V, it is pricey because it is a race oil but well worth every penny.

I use Amsoil 10W30 which is the correct viscosity according to manual. It's on offer at opie oil at the moment too (more with s2kuk membership too).

5W40 is easier to find and works fine.

There's not a huge amount of difference between different brands of oil but if you fancy looking into it further check out the oil journals in UTH.

Mobil do a semi synthetic 10W 40 .... I have it in mine - can't remember it's exact name though but was put in by dealer. Car seems fine and it hasn't used any at all since last service .... though I will be having fully synth in at next one.

You're right - it has!

Use the Advanced Search rather than the search box at the bottom of the forum - you can find a link for it in the "READ THIS FIRST!" thread stuck at the top of the board.

People get WAY too worked up about oil. Any decent quality 5W30, 10W30, 5W40 or 10W40 will do the job just fine.
